Homosassa Seawalls and Pilings We pride ourselves in constructing the straightest and most durable sea walls in the business. Today’s seawalls are installed with a wide range of materials and costs depending on the contractor, exposure and armoring requirements of the property.   If you own a waterfront property you know just how important your seawall is to the safety and value of your property. It is essential to have a structure in place that will prevent erosion and water damage that will also enhance the look of your property from the water. Rip Rap Seawalls A rip rap or stone wall will add stability while giving your property a natural look. Rip rap consists of rocks, stone or other material arranged to prevent erosion from water. Rip rap not only looks natural but it will also provide a great habitat for wildlife. When the tide is high, rip rap can offer an ideal shelter for small marine animals. Wood Seawalls A wooden sea wall can have more natural look and offers a lower initial installation cost but keep in mind that a wood seawall is more prone to factors that could require more-frequent repairs or replacement. Depending on the weather and environment this option can provide many years of service. Vinyl Seawalls  A vinyl seawall will last longer than wood, more durable than concrete, and engineered to work with the forces of water and tides to diffuse their power. When used in conjunction with earth-anchoring systems and concrete reinforcement, vinyl sheet pile is hands-down the best defense against erosion and best investment to protect valuable waterfront property. We help with which profile panels you might need with a range of thicknesses and strength ratings to cover any need from small residential to a large commercial job.   Pilings Piling is the one part of any dock construction plan that should be given the closest scrutiny. Your whole project rests on its structural integrity to ensure longevity. There are three things to consider: (1) Make sure pilings will hold up from weather and rot. For wood, that means ensuring the highest levels of the right chemicals, or investing in an alternative piling material like fiberglass. (2) Create a solid barrier from destructive organisms. We recommend new wood pilings be wrapped prior to sinking. If you have existing pilings, there are solutions for protecting them as well. (3) Protect Pilings from the sun. Piling caps are for more than just cosmetic looks. They will block harmful UV rays and stop water intrusion that will accelerate degradation of wood from above. If your existing pilings have damage and you’re just not sure how to proceed, call us. We can discuss the options for piling repair or replacement.
